Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information YichusTree collects, how we use it for family trees and optional reminders, and your choices — including SMS consent required by carriers and Twilio.

1. Who we are
YichusTree ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website and app at yichustree.com. We help you build and share family (yichus) trees, store photos and life events, invite relatives, and optionally receive email or text reminders about family occasions.

2. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email, password (hashed), verification status, newsletter preference, and Google sign-in identifiers when used.
- Mobile numbers: YichusTree collects mobile phone numbers only when users provide them (for example on Signup or in their profile). Providing a number does not by itself enroll you in SMS.
- Family tree content: people, relationships, dates, places, photos, events, and sharing settings.
- Notification & SMS preferences: which channels and occasion types you enable, custom message text, and SMS consent / opt-out records.
- Billing: Premium subscriptions are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.
- Technical data: session cookies/tokens and logs needed for security and reliability.
3. How we use information
- Provide and secure your account and family trees
- Send service emails (verification, password reset, invitations)
- Send optional SMS family reminders only with separate express consent (see Section 5 and SMS Terms)
- Process Premium subscriptions
4. SMS / mobile information
Optional texts are sent under YichusTree Family Reminders via Twilio. SMS requires separate express consent (unchecked checkbox on Signup or Notification Preferences). Consent is not a condition of purchase or of using YichusTree.

- You may withdraw consent anytime via STOP or by turning SMS off in Notification Preferences
By providing your mobile number and checking this box, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from YichusTree about family reminders, including birthdays, Yahrzeits, and family events. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase or of using YichusTree. See our Privacy Policy and SMS Terms.
Mobile numbers and SMS opt-in/consent data are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information may be shared only with service providers such as Twilio and wireless carriers as necessary to deliver messages and maintain compliance.
5. Sharing
We share personal data with service providers that help operate YichusTree (hosting, email, file storage, payments, SMS) under contracts that limit their use of the data. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell personal information.
6. Retention & your choices
You can update profile details, turn SMS off, or reply STOP. Request account deletion via support@yichustree.com. Consent and opt-out records may be retained as needed for messaging compliance.
